RSPCA release footage of 'clearly petrified' dog being viciously assaulted by owner

Graphic footage has been released of a man in England violently assaulting a dog, in the hopes that he will be identified and the dog rescued.

The RSPCA released the mobile phone footage on Monday, after it was sent to them by a concerned member of the public.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday December 10 at about 3.15pm in Lancashire, a county in England's northwest.

The RSPCA believe the dog is likely an American bulldog, based on its appearance.

"This is an urgent appeal to find the man in the footage, which we are releasing today, and the dog, whose welfare we are extremely concerned about," RSPCA inspector Charlotte Booker said.

"This was a sustained attack on a dog which was clearly petrified and submissive and which had to be picked up and carried down the street afterwards."
