Rare white lion cubs born at Georgia zoo

Cleopatra the white lioness has given birth to three cubs at a zoo in Georgia.

The litter was born at Tbilisi Zoo in Georgia's capital on Wednesday, and are being kept in a closed-off area so they can adapt to their surroundings.

"Their mother will most likely let them out in the coming days, and everyone will have a chance to come and see them for the first time,” the zoo’s Facebook page said in an announcement. 

According to the Telegraph, Cleopatra had a "complicated" birth, but the cubs and their mother are believed to be doing well.

In 2015, Tbilisi Zoo lost more than 280 animals after devastating floods tore through the country.

White lions are believed to be found in only 70 zoos worldwide.
