Puppy runs for first time with help of prosthetic legs

A young pup has been given a second chance at life after being gifted with prosthetic legs, allowing her to walk despite a disability leaving her unable to use her front legs.

Daisy was adopted by Sheena Main after being abandoned on the streets of Bellflower, California.

“Daisy was found by an animal control officer abandoned on the streets as a puppy, and was later scheduled to be euthanized,” Ms Main wrote on a Facebook page she set up for the pup.

Ms Main adopted Daisy, bringing her into a “loving forever home”.

Now she has been given the gift of walking too.

Daisy was born with a congenital deformity in her front legs, preventing her from walking.

Ms Main had tried using a wheelchair to help Daisy get around, but it had proved to be too much strain on her spine.

Then in October, with the help of Animal Ortho Care, Daisy was gifted with a pair of prosthetic legs.

Originally very wobbly on the legs, Daisy is now running and playing on them, interacting with other dogs and enjoying her freedom.

“Daisy is now RUNNING! Both her ears and spirit are bouncing with joy,” Ms Main wrote on Facebook last week.
