Pine tree falls on driver during Tropical Storm Irma
A second later, this woman would have been killed. Two seconds later, she would not have been unaffected.
April Baxter was driving down Georgia Highway 92 south of Atlanta during Tropical Storm Irma on Monday when a large tree toppled over.
Dash cam footage from the truck behind her shows the tree collapsing and landing directly in front of Ms Baxter.
"It started falling and just closed my eyes and hit the brakes," she told WSB-TV.
"I closed my eyes and the airbags popped. It was all so fast, very fast."
The collision with the pine tree almost flipped her 4WD vertically, throwing the rear wheels up in the air.
"I thought, 'This is the end. I'm done'," she said.
Baxter said she was driving through the storm because she lived in a mobile home and wanted to get to the sturdier shelter of her sister's house.
She suffered a seat-belt burn, a strained shoulder and a hurt knee in the crash.
The dash cam footage was filmed by Michael R Head.
