Pedestrian causes traffic light to smash into smithereens while trying to fix it

A Russian pedestrian's attempt to fix a broken traffic light has ended in a total debacle.

The pedestrian noticed the on-the-fritz traffic light when crossing a road in Krasnoarmeyskaya on Friday.

A car had also approached the intersection where the broken traffic light was and stopped at a red light, which was due to last for 33 more seconds.

Although the lights were still working, they were intermittently cutting out and the pedestrian thought giving it a simple nudge with a nearby piece of wood might help.

But rather than fix the traffic light, it caused the entire pole to fall and scattered fragments from the smashed plastic lights across the street.

The stopped car's dash cam captured the accident in its entirety.

It is unclear whether the pedestrian who accidentally pushed the pole over snuck away before authorities could arrive.
