Panicking mother duck sparks heroic firefighter rescue

A crew of firefighters have been caught on camera saving an adorable family of ducks in Slovakia.

A Slovakian man saw the distressed mother duck on the side of the road while driving and pulled over to see what was wrong.

After approaching the duck he saw that her ducklings had fallen into a drain and were stuck at the bottom.

He immediately called the firefighters who diverted traffic to rescue the ducklings from the drain.

The firefighters pried the drain cover off, proceeding to lower themselves, sometimes to the waist, into the drain to reach the ducklings.

A pacing and quacking mother duck watched on, while the rescue was caught on camera by Slovakian news website Noviny.sk.

Once all six ducklings had been saved they returned the family safely to a nearby pond.
