One killed, several arrested after FBI swoop on militia members occupying Oregon wildlife refuge

One person is dead and at least six people have been arrested after FBI agents and police swooped on a group of protesters occupying a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon.
The group of protesters has occupied the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge since January 2 to protest federal land policies.
About 4.30pm local time FBI agents and Oregon State Police “began an enforcement action to bring into custody a number of individual”, the FBI announced.
One protester was shot and died at the scene, while another suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
He was arrested and remains in police custody.
The protest’s ringleader Ammon Edward Bundy was among the six arrested by law enforcement officers in two separate incidents.
It is unclear who fired first.
Last week, Oregon's governor declared she’d had enough and that the protest would soon be stopped.
"The residents of Harney County have been overlooked and underserved by federal officials' response thus far," Governor Kate Brown said.
"This spectacle of lawlessness must end. And until Harney County is free of it I will not stop insisting that federal officials enforce the law."
