One dead after suspected car bomb explodes in Berlin

A man is dead and part of the German capital of Berlin is in lockdown after a car exploded from what police believe was a car bomb at 8am local time.

Berlin Police have taken to Twitter to a driver was killed when his Volkswagen Passat exploded on Bismarck Street.

The car is believed to have exploded while driving as a result of a car bomb and subsequently overturned.

A bomb disposal team is now in the process of investigating the vehicle.

Police have advised anyone within the vicinity to stay indoors and keep the windows closed.
