Human remains found inside suitcase

Police in Indianapolis said human remains have been found in a suitcase near a creek.

Officers were called to a street in the south east of the US city yesterday after members of the public found the body parts.

Police spokesman Gene Cook said the suitcase was spotted near the creek, reports CNN.

When it was opened, the remains were found inside and police alerted.

Officers have not released the identity of the victims and are not saying the age or gender of the person.

But they did say the remains are not of an infant or child.

Authorities said they will not release the identity of the person until next of kin are notified.

Investigators are still trying to determine how the person died, but the circumstances are clearly suspicious.
