New images of Manchester bomber Salman Abedi released

New CCTV images of Manchester bomber Salman Abedi have been released by police in an attempt to “jog people’s memories” of sightings of him.

British police said they have a “deep understanding” of Abedi’s movements in and out of the country in the week leading to the deadly attack at the Manchester Arena in May, and of where the bomb he detonated was assembled.

Twenty-nine searches have been conducted at properties over the past three weeks and evidence of explosive material has been found at several locations with links to Abedi, Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson said.

Twenty-two people were arrested in relation to the attack but all have since been released without charge.

“Our enquiries show that the assembly of the device is likely to have been by Abedi himself,” Chief Supt Jackson said.

“What is less clear is whether he acted alone in obtaining the materials for the device…and whether others knew or were complicit in the storage of materials knowing what was being planned.”

Officers are now appealing for information about the white Nissan Micra he used and a barrel stored inside the car.

“We continue to appeal for the help of the public in tracking Abedi’s movements and have released images of him and the car to try and jog people’s memories of sightings,” Chief Supt Jackson added.

Police said they also know Abedi tried to send money out of the UK in the days leading up to the bombing.

They also want to interview his brother Hasham Abedi, who is detained in Libya.

Twenty-two people were killed in the Manchester attack last month, and dozens more were injured.
