A vandal wanted for piercing the tyres of more than two dozen cars in a quiet UK town has been revealed as a dog.

For more than six months, many locals from the Cumbrian village of Brampton complained to police that their cars were being targeted.

"(My tyre) went flat whilst I was driving – it felt like I had square wheels," victim Annie Taylor told the BBC.

"It was irreparable because the damage was to the side wheels so I had to buy a new tyre every time."

Fed-up with the attacks, she set up a CCTV camera with the intention of catching the cunning culprit.

Instead, what Ms Taylor ended up catching was a very perky border collie with a penchant for popping tyres.

"It seems to have a thing against cars," Ms Taylor told the BBC.

Known as Jess, the dog's owners say they had no idea their pet was behind the mystery and have vowed to keep her on a leash in the future.
