An airstrike on an Iran-backed militia in Iraq's north has killed at least five people, Iraqi officials said.

It is understood that four other militants were wounded in the attack.

The official reporting the information spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to brief reporters.

Iran's deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that multiple nations, including China, Russia and France, had called Tehran and pushed for a ceasefire.

The minister said the first condition of a potential ceasefire would be for any further aggression against the country to stop immediately, Iranian state TV reported.

Angus Taylor has vocalised his support following the Labor government's decisions to deploy military assets to the Middle East and grant visas to five players from Iran's women's soccer team.

"What we see today is allies working together to push back against this despotic regime," Taylor said.

Taylor said "every reasonable Australian" would want a good outcome for the safety and future of the five Iranian players who were labelled as traitors for their refusal to sing the national anthem during their Asian Cup match against Australia.

"These women are standing up against the regime with enormous courage, and I think this has captured the imagination of the Australian people."

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said in a statement that the end of the war lies in their hands.

IRGC Spokesperson Ali Mohammad Naini said in a statement published to multiple Iranian media outlets, "Iran will determine when the war ends".

The declaration is believed to be in response to Trump's remarks earlier in the week.

US President Donald Trump has repeated his warnings to Iran about any moves to block oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

"If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far," he just posted on Truth Social.

About 20 per cent of the world's oil supplies transit through the waterway.

"Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again — Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them — But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen!" he says.

Trump went on to describe his warning as "a gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those Nations that heavily use the Hormuz Strait."

A daily cap on petrol prices has been introduced across Victoria to stop motorists from being hit by surging pump prices.

The new "anti-gouging" laws require pumps across the state to set their fuel prices by 2pm for the following day.

Once prices are set, they will be available for 24 hours starting at 6am the following morning.

"How often do you see a cheap price in the morning, only for it to jump in the afternoon?" Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan said.

Petrol stations that do not follow the new rules could face fines of up to $24,000.

Four additional flights are set to depart the UAE today and arrive in Australia.

The flights are scheduled to depart Dubai Airport this afternoon, with two to land in Sydney, one in Perth and another in Melbourne.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has released footage of a devastating air attack on trucks and buildings in Iran.

The short video posted on X shows projectiles striking vehicles and what appears to be storage facilities. It is unclear if they were of military origin.

The footage was accompanied by the message "There is no shortage of American military will".

US President Donald Trump says the American armed forces have struck 5000 targets in Iran.

Overnight Donald Trump was vociferously demanding Australia grant asylum to a group of Iranian footballers.

But the US president's demands come in spite of his administration deporting many asylum seekers back to Iran.

A report written by Senate Democrats earlier this year discussed the US negotiating with Iran to take back those seeking to flee the regime.

"While distinct from third country deportations, the Administration has shown that in pursuit of its deportation agenda, it is even willing to cut deals with adversarial governments like Iran," the report read.

"Under secretive arrangements, the Administration has forcibly deported Iranians, including vulnerable individuals such as religious minorities and political dissidents.

"The report claimed the Trump administration had struck a deal with Iran to deport 400 Iranians over the coming months.
