Reporter breaks down during Gaza live cross

A seasoned television reporter has broken down on camera and walked off during a live cross from the Gaza strip.

Al Jazeera correspondent Wael Al-Dahdouh was speaking to the news anchor from Gaza, clad in a bulletproof vest and a helmet emblazoned with the word TV.

After speaking about the bloody day of fighting on Sunday, which killed 100 Palestinians and 13 Israeli soldiers, Al-Dahdouh's eyes welled up.

The award-winning Palestinian reporter looked away from the camera and began to sob before stepping out of shot.

As the camera panned away from Al-Dahdouh, smoke could be seen rising above the Gaza skyline.

The UN has reported that more than 85,000 Palestinians have been made homeless in the conflict in the past two weeks.
