Malaysian Airlines did not change their flight path to avoid troubled Ukrainian region
As the separatist conflict in Ukraine, some airlines diverted their services in the region to avoid flying on what is one of the main air routes between Asia and Europe.
Malaysian Airlines did not divert their flight path, believing that their flights would be safe at an altitude of 33,000 feet.
