The brother of Giuseppe Mango, an Italian singer who died on stage on Sunday, has died just one day after his younger brother.

Giovanni Mango, 75, died from a heart attack on Monday, according to Rai News.

His death came just one day after his younger brother, 60-year-old Giuseppe 'Pino' Mango, collapsed and died on stage mid performance.

The 1980s pop star raised his hand while during the opening bars of his hit Oro at a performance in Policoro in southern Italy.

He simply said "excuse me" before collapsing and dying.

Italian news agency ANSA described the singer-songwriter's departure as the "perfect stage exit for an artist".

Mango blended Mediterranean pop with world music and folk influences, recording 23 albums over his long career, three in Spanish.
