Man fakes kidnapping to girlfriend to stay out partying
A man is not only in the doghouse but has also been fined by police after telling her he'd been kidnapped so he could stay out all night partying.
The 32-year-old from Bolton had called his girlfriend to say he was being held hostage over an $89 bet when in reality he was at a house party.
Almost seven hours later, police found the man still partying at 1:20am and after being questioned he told them it was all "a wind up".
The investigation into the man's disappearance required officers to sift through CCTV footage and conduct house to house searches which even led to the arrest of a man.
"This is without doubt one of the most foolish and irresponsible incidents I have been involved in," Detective Inspector Jo Clawson said.
Police say the only reason the trouble maker was not taken to court was because they "have wasted enough time and resources on him already".
It's unknown if the couple are still together.
