A man has jumped the fence at the White House as US President Barack Obama and his family sat down for Thanksiving dinner.
The US Secret Service caught the man after he jumped the fence, before he could reach the residence.
The man first made it through a barricade before scaling the fence, CNN reports.
He then ran across the property’s North Lawn, which was only recently fitted with seven-inch steel spikes as a security measure.
The jumper was quickly apprehended by the Secret Service who were forced to draw their guns and employed the use of K-9 units.
The man had an envelope with him and was wearing an American flag as a cloak.
Vanessa Peña, who witnessed the event, said on Twitter she heard the offender take a deep breath and whisper "Alright, let's do this" right before jumping the fence.
The Thanksgiving dinner was not interrupted.
