Man accidentally donates all his clothes to charity

A US man has become a little bit too generous for his own good after accidentally donating all his clothes to charity.

Matthew Hager was cleaning out his house in Charlotte when he discovered he had bed bugs.

"It embarrassed me. I was like, 'man, I try to keep my house clean,'" he told the WSOC network.

Determined to fix the problem, Mr Hager pulled all of his clothes out of his wardrobe and put them into garbage bags.

He then placed them out the front of his house for two days, thinking the sun and heat would kill the bugs.

But when Mr Hager came back home the bags had disappeared. He didn’t panic immediately.

"I just thought either my girlfriend or my mama come picked them up to wash them," he said.

Then Mr Hager noticed a receipt from the National Kidney Services thanking him for his donation.

"It was comical whenever all my clothes were gone. I thought one of my friends got me good," he said. "But it wasn't a joke. They were really gone."

A spokesperson for Value Village charity stores, who were collecting on behalf National Kidney Services, told WSOC drivers shouldn’t collect anything that wasn’t specifically marked for donation - but sometimes it happens.

If a person wanted their donations back, Value Village tried their best to help but donations often get snapped up quickly, the spokesperson said.
