Flight engineer focus of MH370 investigation

Malaysian police are investigating the background of a flight engineer who was on missing flight MH370, as the theory the plane was hijacked gains credence.

Aviation engineer Mohd Khairul Amri Selamat, 29, worked for the Swiss-based private jet charter company, Execujet Aviation Group.

The company has declined to say whether Mr Selamat was still employed by them.

"We can't disclose anything. We want to protect the family's privacy," an official at the company's Malaysian office said.

The father-of-one had more than 10 years' experience as a flight engineer, his father Selamat Omar told Reuters.

He declined to say whether he believed his son could have been involved in any foul play.

"Khairul was doing well in his job and was a good son. He would come visit us at least once a month," Mr Omar said.

The latest developments in the mystery of flight MH370 come as Malaysia police focus their investigation on pilots, Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah and his first officer Fariq Abdul Hamid.

It has also been revealed that "All right, good night" were the final words spoken by Fariq Abdul Hamid from the plane before its communication system was disabled.
