Lost parrot returns four years later speaking Spanish

A US man whose talking African Grey parrot went missing was stunned when his pet returned, four years later, speaking another language.

When Darren Chick got a call from a local vet who wanted to know if he had lost a parrot. He was stunned.

The parrot, Nigel, was identified by the microchip the same vet had implanted many years before.

Nigel was definitely Darren's long-lost pet but something was different.

When Darren tried to pick Nigel up, he was bitten.

And when they got home, Darren discovered that the bird had shed his previous proper British accent and now mainly preferred to natter in Spanish.

For some reason, he also kept asking about someone called "Larry".

But after a while, Nigel settled into his old home, even if he had picked up a couple of new habits.

"He's doing perfect now," Darren told the Daily Breeze. "It’s really weird, I knew it was him from minute I saw him."
