The lightning-fast reflexes of a Daihatsu driver have prevented a high-speed collision at a Maltese roundabout in what looks like a scene straight from a Hollywood blockbuster.

In dashcam footage uploaded to the Facebook group Idiot Drivers Exposed - Malta, a silver Suzuki Swift is patiently waiting at the roundabout for an opportunity to enter.

The green and silver Daihatsu four-wheel-drive is then seen approaching the roundabout at speed in the same lane.

A high-impact crash seems inevitable until the Daihatsu driver makes a quick manoeuvre that could be mistaken for having been performed by a stunt driver.

Without slowing, the driver swerves the car onto a raised rubble wall to the left of the halted car.

After ploughing through the roundabout, the shaken driver pulls over.

Many Facebook users were quick to point out how reckless the Daihatsu driver had been.

"Complete disregard for the lives of others," Julia Agapova wrote.

"This incident could have costed somebody's precious life!" Sina Camilleri said.

The roundabout is also often used by cyclists, according to the Times of Malta.

According to the timestamp on the footage, the accident occured at 6.22pm on Monday September 26.
