iPhone users with iOS 16 urged to check privacy settings

As the conversation around online privacy continues in the wake of the Optus data breach, one particular safety check has emerged online for iOS 16 users.

US entrepreneur Scott Polderman posted the step-by-step guide on his TikTok profile.

"Here's an iPhone check I bet you didn't know," he says.

A TikToker has revealed a simple privacy check for iPhone users with iOS16. Apple

Polderman said iPhone users who had downloaded the new iOS 16 operating system should take the following steps.

  1. Open "Settings".
  2. Scroll down to open "Privacy and Security".
  3. Scroll down to open "Safety Check".
  4. Scroll down to open "Manage Sharing and Access".
  5. After the facial ID check, scroll down to open "Continue".
  6. This will allow you to see the people you're sharing with, and the information that you're sharing.

The iOS 16 update was released in mid-September for iPhone users.

The system is compatible with all models back to the iPhone 8.
