Indian groom shot on the way to his wedding

An Indian groom who was shot on his wedding day has still managed to make it down the aisle.

The 25-year-old was ambushed on the way to the ceremony in Delhi on Monday night, the BBC reported.

Two men climbed into his horse-drawn carriage as he was being escorted to the ceremony by friends and family.

He was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery, however the bullet was unable to be removed straight away.

The man returned to his bride-to-be and completed his nuptials with it still lodged in his shoulder.

Police believe the attack was targeted, and undertaken with the "intention to kill".

After the ceremony the groom was taken back to hospital.
