Indian construction workers flee as cliff-face gives away above them

Construction workers have rushed for cover after heavy rains caused a massive landslide in Himachal Pradesh, India.

Video of the cliff-face caving in at the state capital of Shimla, reportedly taken on Thursday around 3pm, was posted to YouTube today.

The collapse occurred on a hill overlooking a parking and shopping complex, local publication Himachal Watcher reports.

Site employees can be seen hastening for shelter as mud, rock and other debris tumble towards them.

A road overlooking the landslide area has since been closed for safety reasons.

The Watcher suggests improper excavation by construction workers may have contributed to the accident.
