Impala prevents itself from becoming prey only to be snapped up by crocodile

Moments after escaping the throngs of a pack of wild dogs and a very hungry hippopotamus, an unlucky impala was snapped up by a crocodile in South Africa's Kruger National Park.

The impala is first seen butterflying through the water in an attempt to escape three wild dogs.

It manages to swim to the opposite side of the body of water, only for the dogs to run around the national park's Transport Dam and recommence their chase.

Having leapt through the dam a second time, the impala is then set upon by a group of very hungry hippos.

Despite having a hippo on it's tail, the impala continues its mad dash through the water - only to be confronted by another hippo and the wild dogs.

Swimming back out into the dam, the impala looks around and sees that it has prevented itself from becoming prey.

But unfortunately, it's at that moment that a crocodile appears out of the water and takes the impala back into it.

The incident was filmed by 22-year-old university student Robyn Wessels and since been viewed more than 150,000 times on the Kruger Sightings YouTube channel since it was uploaded on July 26.
