Hundreds left stranded amid power outage at international airport in Hamburg, Germany

The international airport in Hamburg, Germany has been forced to suspend all flights due to a power outage, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.
Hamburg Airport spokeswoman Stefanie Harder said everyone was asked to leave the airport terminal yesterday as technicians tried to fix the problem, DPA news agency reports.

Ms Harder says she doesn't know why such a large area of the airport was affected by the power outage, thought to be the result of an electrical short.
The airport is the fifth-largest one in Germany, with an average of 200 planes landing or taking from Hamburg every Sunday.
