Groom begins married life by dropping wife on concrete

The marriage of one American couple has got off to a rocky start after the groom dropped the bride and fell on top of her when he was trying to run while carrying her.

For Phoenix, Arizona newlyweds Chad Kanning and Julia Magdelano, it began as a moment of jubilation.

The ceremony was over and they were about to celebrate with friends and family at their reception.

Mr Kanning, with his bride in his arms, broke into a run as they approached the building.

But he stumbled, then fell, dropping his new bride on the ground and tumbling on top of her himself.

Thankfully for the groom, 25-year-old Ms Magdelano's the forgiving type.

"I got up and I was laughing so hard. I thought it was, like, the best thing that’s ever happened," she told ABC News.

"Both his arms went under me, so really he took most of the impact," she said. "It looks in the video like he body slammed me, but really I felt nothing.

"I was kind of sore the next day but, I mean, when you fall onto the cement, of course you're going to be sore."

More than 45,000 people have watched video of the newlyweds' spill online – something they were never expecting.

"I was shocked when it went from like, eight views when I first saw the video and the next day it had like 20,000 and I'm like 'Are you kidding?'" Ms Magdelano said.

But they're seeing the upside of the whole affair.

"Who else can really top that kind of wedding entrance?" she said. "It's something me and my friends and family will never ever forget."
