The night began with stunning red carpet appearances, with stars such as Joni Mitchell and Yungblud decked out in sequins and fur, while Heidi Klum and Chappell Roan turned heads with their more "naked" looks.

Other stars, including Justin and Hailey Bieber, used the red carpet as an opportunity to protest against ICE.

Anti-ICE messages then flowed through to the ceremony, with Bad Bunny and Billie Eilish using their recipient speeches to bring attention to the issue.

There was plenty of emotion as stars including Olivia Dean, Jelly Roll and Lola Young also took out coveted awards.

And the final award goes to...

The last Grammy of the night has been awarded to Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) for Album of the Year for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

Harry Styles made his grand Grammys return to present the award a little over a month before the release of his fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.

Ocasio was visibly overcome with emotion when Styles called his name and the tears flowed as he took to the stage.

The Puerto Rican delivered parts of his acceptance speech in his native Spanish, sharing just one statement in English.

"I want to dedicate this award to all the people who had to leave their homeland, their country to follow their dreams," he said.

The televised awards show wrapped up as soon as they headed offstage - but the excitement isn't over yet.

As the plates are cleared and the red carpet is rolled up for another year, music's biggest stars will be slipping into something more comfortable and heading off to afterparties across LA.

Record of the Year goes awry

Kendrick Lamar and SZA have won the Grammy for the Record of the Year for Luther, but the award was slightly overshadowed by the person presenting it.

The award was delivered by none other than Cher, who returned to the Grammys stage for the first time in almost two decades for the occasion.

She was also there to collect her own Lifetime Achievement award and delivered a lengthy acceptance speech, which left some fans and viewers at home a little confused.

Things took an even stranger turn when she tried to walk offstage before announcing the nominees for the award she was there to present.

She eventually announced Kendrick and SZA as the winners and they were able to collect their trophy.

The duo were good-natured about the confusing presentation and seemed thrilled to be sharing the stage with Cher.

Sharon, Kelly and Jack Osbourne watched through tears as Post Malone paid homage to late husband and father Ozzy Osbourne.

He was joined on stage by Slash, of Guns N' Roses fame, and Chad Smith, drummer from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, as well as other music legends to perform War Pigs by Black Sabbath.

It was followed by another musical tribute to songwriter, singer, musician and producer D'Angelo.

Country music icon Reba McEntire honoured those in the industry who died over the past year with a touching In Memoriam tribute.

There were plenty of frontrunners for Song of the Year today and Billie Eilish's understated ballad WILDFLOWER wasn't one of them, but she just won the award anyway.

She and brother and collaborator Fineas O'Connell took to the stage to collect the gong and delivered the boldest speech of the night.

"As grateful as I feel, I honestly don't feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land," Eilish said.

"It's just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now and I just I feel really hopeful in this room.

"And I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter.

"And f--k ICE is all I want to say."

Star loses it after Grammys win

Lola Young lost her mind when her name was called out as the winner of Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit track, Messy.

The 25-year-old Brit ran onto the stage and was almost immediately forced to apologise.

"I don't have any speech prepared. Obviously, I don't. It's Messy," she began.

Then, in a big awards ceremony blunder, Young dropped the F-bomb. "Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!" She quickly added.

Lady Gaga takes home another win

Lady Gaga has taken home her third Grammy for the year (Best Dance Recording/Best Remixed Recording) with Best Pop Vocal Album for Mayhem.

"We are so, so honoured to be up here. I've been making music since I was a little girl, and every time I'm here, I still feel like I need to pinch myself," she began.

She went on to thank her partner, Michael Polansky, who worked closely with her on the album, before thanking her other collaborators.

"I just want to say for women in music that I know sometimes when you're in the studio with a bunch of guys, it can be hard, so I urge you to always listen to yourself and always fight for your ideas," she continued.

"Fight for your songs, fight for yourself as a producer, make sure that you are heard loudly."

Lady Gaga steals the show

Chantelle Bozicevic

She's the Queen of Pop for a reason, and today Lady Gaga showed us exactly why she's held the title for so long.

The industry veteran delivered a show-stopping performance of her hit song Abracadabra, which won Best Dance Recording and is nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

While the star is usually known to go big with her performances, Gaga instead relied more on her flawless vocals.

Singer's powerful reflection on dark past

Jelly Roll has accepted the award for Best Contemporary Country Album with an emotional, evangelising speech.

The singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, collected the gong with tears in his eyes and thanked his wife, saying he would have been imprisoned or died by suicide without her.

"There was a time in my life, y'all, that I was broken. That's why I wrote this album," he said.

"I didn't think I had a chance y'all, there was days that I thought the darkest things. I was a horrible human.

"There was a moment in my life that all I had was a Bible ... a radio ... and a six by eight foot cell. And I believe that those two things could change my life."

DeFord also reflected on his Christian faith with a political edge.

"Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party," he cried, which may have been a nod to the Trump administration's use of Christianity to justify some of its recent political moves.
