Gordon Ramsay horrifies audience by 'mangling fingers in blender'

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay gave a studio audience an almighty scare after he apparently trapped his fingers in a food blender.

Ramsay was shown writhing in agony on the studio floor with his fingers bloody red during a segment of the UK television programme, The Nightly Show, on Monday when his attempt to make a smoothie seemed to hit disaster.

Footage shows his studio audience and guest comedian Frank Skinner with stunned faces as Ramsay screamed his trademark expletives and his fingers appeared badly mangled.

But it was all part of a prank, which Ramsay explained backstage to TV viewers just moments before.

The culinary carnage certainly appeared realistic, with Skinner, sitting beside Ramsay, telling the live audience: "Some of you may think this is a joke. But not from where I'm sitting."

The tension ended quickly when Ramsay jumped up and shouted "Fooled you!".

Ramsay is the latest presenter of the 30-minute ITV show which has been running for five weeks but has been widely panned by critics.
