Stubborn goat refuses to be meal for tiger, steals predator's bed

A stubborn goat dropped into a Russian zoo enclosure refused to be a tiger's meal and has taken over the bewildered apex predator's territory.

Zookeepers were trying to feed a live goat to the tiger known as Amur in order to satiate its supposed killer instincts.

It was meant to play out like the famous scene of Jurassic Park where the T-Rex devours its live prey.

However the fearless horned herbivore decided he wasn't going to be lunch and soon took charge at the enclosure of the puzzled big cat.

Zookeepers at Far Eastern Safari Park at Schkotovsky said the goat even forced the tiger out of its regular bed, leaving Amur to take naps on the roof of his cave in the freezing snow.

“The brave goat not only saved his own life. He kicked the tiger out of his bedroom and is sleeping on Amur's 'bed'," a keeper told Siberian Times.

Amur is fed live prey twice a week and usually has no qualms taking down goats and rabbits.

But zookeepers believe his latest intended meal had never seen a tiger and didn’t realise it was supposed to run away.

"We named the goat Timur - he was just a nameless prey at the point when he entered the cage - out of respect his bravery."
