Girl dies after falling from docked cruise ship

An eight-year-old girl has died after plunging several floors inside a docked cruise ship in Miami, Florida.

The girl reportedly fell to the lower deck of the interior atrium of the Carnival Cruise ship, Glory, on Saturday morning (local time), the Miami Herald reported.

The distance she fell has not been determined, but authorities said it may have been up to 15 metres.

Emergency services performed CPR on the girl at the scene, before taking her to a local hospital where she died.

Miami police told the Herald that the ship has been handed back to Carnival Cruise Lines following investigations.
