Girl avoids arrest by playing rock-paper-scissors with cop

An underage drinker sprung by police in the US has avoided a fine by defeating an officer at rock-paper-scissors.

Mobile phone video shows patrons at country music festival Chilifest cheering when the girl beats the cop by throwing rock to his scissors in Snook, Texas at the weekend.

As the young victor hugs a friend in relief, her opponent and his two colleagues can be seen walking away in the now-viral Vine footage.

Burleson County Constable Dennis Gaas told KBTX the department will decide whether to pursue disciplinary action against the three officers involved.

The unnamed officers have been banned from working security at future Chilifests.

While it is within an officer's right to decide whether they will issue a fine or not, they should not "play games to get someone out of a ticket", Constable Gaas added.

According to event organisers, 44 other underage festival-goers were given citations for drinking.
