Hundreds of people were evacuated from a luxury skyscraper in Dubai's Marina neighbourhood overnight, after a fire broke out.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at the Sulafa Tower just before 3pm local time (10pm AEST) to find thick smoke billowing out of the 35th floor.

The skyscraper is the 23rd tallest building in Dubai and the 127th tallest in the world.

No one is believed to have been injured.

Roads were closed as firefighters attempted to put out the blaze which was brought under control almost three hours later.

There were reports of debris falling from the building which forced roads to be closed around the site.

It's the latest in a number of building fires in Dubai.

On New Year's Eve a huge blaze ripped through the luxury Address Downtown Hotel, injuring 16 people just a few hours before a spectacular fireworks display nearby.

In November last year, fire engulfed three residential blocs in central Dubai and led to services on a metro line being suspended, although no one was hurt.

In February, a blaze gutted one of the emirate's tallest buildings, also in the Dubai Marina neighbourhood.

It destroyed luxury flats in the Torch tower and prompted authorities to evacuate nearby blocks.
