Fiji: magnitude 7.8 earthquake rocks coast
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake has rocked the coast of Fiji.
The quake struck 105km south-east of Suva at a depth of 608km, the US Geological Survey said.
An initial reading by USGS put the quake at a magnitude of 8.1 but that was revised downward.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said no destructive Pacific-wide tsunami was expected.
There is no tsunami threat to New Zealand following the quake, New Zealand’s Ministry of Civil Defence and Earthquake management has confirmed.
It comes just a day after a magnitude-6.7 quake struck part of Japan, prompting landslides.
