The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said no destructive Pacific-wide tsunami was expected.

There is no tsunami threat to New Zealand following the quake, New Zealand’s Ministry of Civil Defence and Earthquake management has confirmed.

It comes just a day after a magnitude-6.7 quake struck part of Japan, prompting landslides.
