Dubai firefighters adopt water jetpacks to fight fires from the skies

Firefighters on jetpacks have been charged with protecting the city of Dubai in a bid to reduce response times.

A video showcasing a demonstration of the newly equipped firefighters was released by the Dubai Civil Defence.

A firefighter on a jet ski can be seen pulling up underneath a bridge containing a burning car before equipping the system called Dolphin and flying into the sky.

He hovers over the smoking car and uses sea water to extinguish the simulated blaze before a sports car containing more firemen pulls up.

The idea behind the project is to reduce travel time to fires on city's bridges.

It's also a pretty good indication of just how big the budget is for Dubai's firefighters.
