A tiny dog is running along a narrow cliff face in Hawaii when it is swept into the water by a huge wave.

The dog’s owner leaps in after it and manages to save the animal, as seen in dramatic footage captured by a drone.

The spot where the dog, named Jerry, fell last week is a popular tourist location in Hawaii known as China Walls, Inside Edition reports.

After Jerry is initially swept into the water a second massive wave smashes against the rocks, surely spelling doom for the animal.

But seconds later a tiny head bobs up in the water, and his master dives in and swims over to grab the little guy, who’s clearly struggling with the doggie paddle in the gigantic waves.

"As soon as the wave came by, people were saying, is that dog supposed to be in the water?” Donnie Klotz, who was flying the drone, said.

The video shows both Jerry and his rescuer make it back onto the rocks safely.
