Determined detainee squeezes through hole in prison door

A Russian prisoner has earned himself the nickname “snake-man” after squeezing through a tiny hatch on his cell door to escape.

CCTV filmed the entire escape as convicted robber Rustam Shakhrutdinov, 25, slowly slid out of a tiny opening used to deliver food and water.

The incident, which is similar to an episode of the X-Files, took place on June 18 in Republic of Dagestan in southwest Russia.

In the video, Shakhrutdinov strips naked to accomplish the feat which takes several minutes.

As the prisoner finally makes it all the way through he pulls his clothes out of the opening, gets dressed and casually walks out of the prison.

It is not known if he has been recaptured by authorities.
