Cyclist David Nicholas wins Paralympic gold in the C3 3000m individual pursuit event

Aussie track cyclist David Nicholas has won gold in the C3 3000m individual pursuit at the Rio Paralympics.
The 24-year-old cyclist, who won silver and gold at the 2012 London Paralympics, defeated US runner up Joe Berenyi and Irish bronze medal place Eoghan Clifford to claim the top spot on the podium.
Fellow Aussie, swimmer Brendan Hall also picked up gold in the 400m freestyle S9, defending his 2012 title.
Hall won by almost five seconds.
Yesterday, Queensland swimmer Lakeisha Patterson won Australia's first Paralympic gold at Rio, setting a new world record in the women's S8 400m freestyle final.
The 17-year-old's time of 4:40:33 put her ahead of rival Jessica Long, the former world record holder who finished with a silver medal.
