Cyclist takes on Mexican traffic to rescue runaway dog

A tiny dog was almost run over multiple times as a cyclist chased it more than half a kilometre down a busy Mexican road.

Video taken from a helmet camera yesterday showed the small dog – with leash still attached - running at incredible speed down a Mexico City street as a concerned cyclist followed closely behind.

On two separate occasions the canine disappeared under cars, leaving it momentarily dazed and confused.

But the fearless pup wasn't deterred and continued its fast-paced adventure.

The woman on the bike urged motorists to slow down and she weaved in and out of traffic until a construction worker eventually grabbed the dog's leash.

The cyclist posted the two-minute chase video to Twitter informing users she eventually found the dog's owner.
