Cop risks life to save woman on train tracks

Powered by

A Texas police officer has dragged a crying woman off train tracks moments before she would have been crushed.

Officer Ramon Morales, 27, was caught on his patrol car's dash cam risking his own life in an effort to grab the emotional woman while she struggled against him as he pulled her to safety.

Amazingly the woman asked Morales, who has been with the Richmond Police Department for just 10 months, why he had saved her, KPRC reports.

"He got there just in time. Saved this woman's life without regard for his own," his supervisor Richmond Sgt Neinast said. "She asked him if he's the one that pulled her off the tracks and he said, 'Yes I am of course.' She said, 'Why did you do that?'

"He's a hero. He went way above and beyond the call of duty to save someone else's life."

Police were phoned after people saw a woman was sitting on the train tracks.

The woman was taken to hospital for assessment.
