Car flips in New York City police chase

A driver on the run from police is lucky to be alive after her out-of-control car flipped end-over-end into the front yard of a New York City home.

Police responding to reports of a stolen car tried to stop Danielle Fragetti, 25, as she was driving in Staten Island early Thursday, New York Daily News reports. 

When police tried to pull her over, Ms Fragetti allegedly sped up instead of slowing down.

She reportedly almost swerved her Nissan Altima into a pursuing police patrol car, before it slammed into a barrier.

Video footage shows Ms Fragetti’s car later launching into the air, flipping and crashing on to a lawn.

Surprisingly, Ms Fragetti was not seriously hurt in the crash.

“It’s a miracle she’s alive,” a witness told CBS New York.

Police say Ms Fragetti is the daughter of the woman who reported the car stolen.

Ms Fragetti was arrested after drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle, and faces charges of reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, unauthorised use of a vehicle, criminal possession of stolen property, and driving without a licence.
