Three people have been taken to hospital after a reported stabbing in central London

Police set up a cordon and ambulances rushed to the scene on Bishopsgate in the City of London on Thursday morning (Thursday night AEDST).

City of London Police said the ongoing situation was being treated as a suspected robbery and not "terror-related".

"We received reports of three stabbings and a person pushed to the floor on Bishopsgate at 9.46am and officers arrived at the scene at 9.51am," police said, on Twitter.

"Three victims were taken by LAS to a nearby hospital to be treated."

Police earlier said a cordon had been established.

"Our officers are at the scene and @Ldn_Ambulance (London Ambulance Service) are in attendance," the organisation said, on Twitter.

"A cordon is currently in place."

While the Met Police has jurisdiction across greater London, City of London Police is responsible for policing the so-called "square mile" that contains the city's historic centre.
