Baseballer Joey Votto loses mind after being ejected from game

Cincinnati Reds player Joey Votto saw red himself when he was ejected during the eighth inning of Cincinnati’s 5-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates in their Major League Baseball match.

Umpire Bill Welke called a second strike on first baseman Votto, who had endured a night of what he saw as marginal calls.

Votto began gesturing to his bench in protestation when he was ejected by Welkes.

He responded by slamming his helmet into the turf and tossing his bat away before animatedly arguing his case just centimetres from the face of Welkes.

His teammates held him back while manager Bryan Price was also ejected for further arguing.

While the Reds are enduring a poor season, Votto’s form has been a bright spot, although it is likely his actions will result in a suspension.
