Three-month-old baby given alcohol and cocaine, records double legal limit

A three-month-old baby has tested for more than twice the legal alcohol limit for an adult in a shocking case of child abuse in the United States.

The infant was allegedly given alcohol and cocaine by a 60-year-old man in North Carolina, according to a police arrest warrant.

Ronnie Keith Johnson has been charged with felony negligent child abuse inflicting serious physical injury, reports the Winston-Salem Journal.

Police say the alleged abuse happened on January 3, 2020.

The child tested positive for cocaine and had a blood alcohol level of 0.17 percent.

The legal limit in the state is 0.08 percent. 

Court documents state Mr Johnson is disabled and lives with the baby's parents.

He was released on $15,000 AUD bond and will face court again on May 14.
