‘Avocado-gate’: Nigella Lawson recipe causes Twitter storm

Culinary queen Nigella Lawson’s return to the screen has been met with outrage on Twitter, all because of a little piece of toast.

A recipe for avocado on toast, featuring lime, chilli flakes, dill, ginger and radishes lavished over dinkelbrot bread had many viewers seething, complaining that it was too easy.

“I’m fully aware that avocado toast isn’t a recipe, but it’s part of the fabric of my life,” Lawson said in the clip.

“I’m ready to eat it no matter what the time of day. It comes in handy for those days where lunch might be later than you’d like.”

Lawson said her new cooking show, Simply Nigella, aims to show viewers how to make recipes that “relax and restore, uplift and enrich”, but it’s obvious the Twitter universe was feeling anything but.

User Dave Harte complained that the show felt like a parody, while others were pleased it was a recipe they could actually achieve.
