Japanese volcano Mount Aso has erupted, according to the Japanese Meteorological Agency.

The volcano, situated on the country’s southernmost main island of Kyushu sent huge plumes of ash and smoke spewing into the sky.

Last year in November, it erupted for the first time since 1991, forcing the cancellation of flights in the area and blanketing the nearby city of Bungo-Ono.

The month before, an eruption at Mount Ontake on October 11 killed 63 people in the worst volcanic disaster to rock the country in 90 years.

In May of this year, another volcano on an island south of Kyushu erupted, causing prompting an immediate evacuation.
