Students find imitation gun in primary school playground

An investigation is under way after an imitation firearm was found in a primary school playground in Melbourne’s inner north.

Police said it is understood two students found a bag containing the item at Princes Hill Primary School at 12.30pm on Wednesday.

Police were called to the school and took the item away.

“At this stage, the firearm is believed to be an imitation,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

“No threats were made to the school, and no one was injured.

“The investigation remains ongoing.”
