Aust ambassador to Indonesia due back

Australia's ambassador to Indonesia will be consulted on Monday following the executions of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan.

Paul Grigson left Jakarta on Sunday night for talks in Perth over Indonesia's execution of the Bali Nine drug smugglers in the face of repeated pleas by the Australian government to commute their death sentences.

The bodies of Chan and Sukumaran were returned home on Saturday, three days after they were killed by firing squad with six others.

Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop has already said Australia will "seek to move on" with its neighbour.

Indonesia's ambassador to Australia, meanwhile, issued a statement on the day after the executions extending sympathy to the Chan and Sukumaran families.

Meanwhile the Australian Federal Police will front the media on Monday over their part in the investigation that led to Chan and Sukumaran's arrests a decade ago.
