Arizona mum transforms hit song into anthem about telling stubborn children 'no'

A US mother has parodied the challenges of parenting by transforming US artist Meghan Trainor’s latest single No – originally about spurning unwelcome admirers – into a song about denying stubborn children.

Arizona-based vlogger Tara Brough’s parody version of No, aptly titled the “mommy spoof”, features Ms Brough repeatedly telling her children ‘no’.

“My answer is ‘no’…you need to let it go,” she raps.

Ms Brough then proceeds to lament their behaviour, singing, “climbing up the walls, hittin' me with balls, blaming all the mess on your sister”.

The video features her catching her son Porter, 4, and daughter Piper, 2, in various acts of mischief.

Ms Brough can also be heard delivering some sagely advice to fellow parents.

“All my mommies listen up. If that kid won't give it up, purse your lips, hands on your hips, and all you gotta say is ... 'My answer is 'no’," she sings.

Ms Brough told the Mirror she was inspired to film the parody after hearing the song on the radio and realising she was often telling her “four-year-old no about this or that”.

"I had never done a spoof of any kind but I knew this would make others laugh so I went for it. And it turns out I was right,” she said.

The video has received hundreds of thousands of views since it was first published on April 26.

Trainor, of All About That Bass fame, released No on March 4.

The song was written as a response to men failing to “take the hint” after their romantic advances had been rejected.
