A friendly game of paintball in the US has ended in a vicious all-in brawl and lifetime bans for more than a dozen men – all because of a 14-year-old boy.

Players were engaging in a round of the military simulation game in Lake Elsinore, California when the fisticuffs started on February 7, CBS News reports.

In newly-released footage captured on one of the players' helmet cameras, two players are seen throwing punches and swearing until another man attacks one of them, sparking around a dozen men to enter the fray.

CBS News said the fight started when the teenager attacked one of the men.

A man can be heard yelling, "That's my nephew," as others try to calm him down.

Others apparently egged on the exchange, saying "You want to fight?"

A spokesman for the range where the brawl took place, Jericho Airsoft, said all players involved have been banned for life.
